2016 International Humanitarian Award winner Anna Kennedy OBE leads anti-bullying campaign during Charity Zumbathon for Autism Awareness in Selsdon Community Centre, Croydon
The Anna Kennedy Online Charity with her team in collaboration with Croydon Zumba teacher and coordinator Leanne Lok created a fundraising Zumbathon with a difference on Saturday 12th November to continue to promote Autism Awareness and the Anti Bullying Campaign that launched this month #GiveUsABreak.
To make this day even more memorable and to continue with a unique collaborative objective, Dr Anna Kennedy OBE herself kick-started the Zumbathon with a talk about how the charity help and support so many individuals with Autism that are bullied and turn to the performing arts to increase self-confidence prior to the warm up which started with Anna and well-known ‘Zumbatwinzz’ Gabriel and Adrian Borozescu as special guests which was an extra treat for all the participants.
The lead co-ordinator Leeann Lok said “It was a privilege to give our time to such a worthy cause. The participants were amazing and the atmosphere electric. Zumba brings people together, to help make a difference to people’s lives. Together we can make a change for the better.”
The outcome was phenomenal with raising nearly £1500 and having so much fun, raffle prizes given away included an overnight stay in a top London hotel for two. Although it was two and a half hours – no one wanted to leave!
Anna recently received the International Humanitarian Awards in London a few weeks ago and has used this opportunity to continue to raise awareness across the UK by visiting schools, colleges and workplaces as well as support groups that approach her as well as families that try and fight so hard for their children’s access to the right education and provision.
